ASIC remakes five ‘sunsetting’ class orders for managed funds

New Vehicle Efficiency Standard Bill 2024

ASIC issues new legislative instrument for exchange traded funds | ASIC

Problem being addressed
Under the Legislation Act 2003, Class Order [CO 13/721] was due to sunset on 1 April 2024. CO 13/721 provides relief to facilitate exchange traded funds (ETFs) that are quoted on the ASX AQUA Market or Cboe where the ETF is passively managed and tracks an index.

Post Implementation Review (PIR)

On 11 January 2024, The Department of the Treasury fulfilled its post-implementation review (PIR) requirements with regard to Strengthening regulatory protection for franchise automotive dealerships.


The PIR requirements were triggered when the Prime Minister granted an exemption from the Impact Analysis (IA) (formerly Regulation Impact Analysis) requirements due to urgent and unforeseen events requiring a decision before an adequate regulatory impact assessment could be undertaken. Federal Register of Legislation - Fisheries Management (Multiple Fishery Closures) Direction 2024

Problem being addressed
The Multiple Fishery (Closures) Direction No. 1 2014 is scheduled to sunset on 30 April 2024. The Direction is designed to prohibit concession holders in the Western Tuna and Billfish Fishery (WTBF) and Western Skipjack Fishery (WSF) from engaging in fishing activities in waters beyond the Provisional Fisheries Surveillance and Enforcement Line (PFSEL) and the 1997 Perth Treaty Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) boundary. Without the Direction, fishing in these areas of waters is not prohibited.
